What is it about 3:49AM?
The last couple of weeks, I have been spontaneously waking at exactly 3:49AM every single morning. I have to admit I am getting just a little bit sick of it. It’s not so bad when I don’t have to work until later or if I have a day off because I simply go back to sleep eventually and pretend that I never actually woke up. But when I know I have to be up at 5am to go to work, I find it impossible to go back to sleep and just lie there waiting for the alarm clock to go off.
There must be some kind of trigger behind the 3:49AM wakefulness but I’m at a loss as to what it might be. As it is, it just gives me extra time to contemplate the meaning of life….and I’ll tell you something - it’s not coming out as a big 42 for me. ![]()

How annoying and how weird? Hope you can work out what it is so you can get that extra bit of sleep

Well I have a theory….we live not far from a rail line which runs freight as well as standard passenger trains. On really still nights, I can hear the soft “chick chick” of the commuter rail but maybe during the wee hours the sound carries more? I’m trying to find out if there is a 3:49am train.
