Everything has its use….even green bowls!
I think it was around this time last year that Leigh had the great idea of starting the AFW 365 challenge. The idea was that we would each try to take a photo a day of various things and post them to a group on Flickr. We started off well…..I lasted about a month before I just couldn’t come up with any other ideas to photograph. I think this must have affected a lot of us because Jodie was just about the only one who was still going strong long after the rest of us had just plain given up.
One of my photos for the challenge was of a brand new pair of sparkly silver shoes and handbag that I planned to wear to my friend’s wedding later in the year. And to make it a bit more artsy looking, I decided to prop them up against what has now become known as “THAT green bowl”. It was a gift given to me at Christmas a few years ago and to be quite honest, I never really knew what to do with it. It hasn’t got a big enough well to be used as a fruit bowl and I don’t like keeping loose pot pourri around the house because the cats have a field day. So there it sat on the entertainment unit with absolutely nothing in it for many years.
Many people have told me to simply bin it but I couldn’t bring myself to do it and I did think if I did bin it, it would come back to haunt me in some way. That bowl is absolutely indestructible. It has fallen off a coffee table, been knocked off the outdoor table during a violent storm and has even survived a brief stint submerged in algae-ridden water within the spa that is yet to go in the ground. Yet it is not chipped, scratched or broken. How?? The mind truly boggles. I am convinced that it cannot be gotten rid of easily, so here it stays.
It’s latest reincarnation is as a centrepiece on my outdoor table. I’ve discovered that it has the perfect size well in the middle to put a small hurricane in. So there you go - everything has its use! You just have to find out what it is.

I reckon we should have another crack at it this next year LMAO!
That looks really nice as a centrepiece. I was going to suggested you could use it as a cat bowl, but that is just as good *hehe*
